The ASHI, a nonprofit, government-sponsored institute that tracks the cost of health care, has compiled the figures for nursing salaries for all workers across the United States.
The salaries are based on data compiled by ASHI that it has gathered from private, nonprofit, state and federal agencies.
It has also analyzed the information from Medicare and Medicaid, and from employers and health insurance companies.
(AP Photo/Carolyn Kaster, File) What it found: The average annual salary for a nurse working in a nursing home was $52,700 in 2017.
The median salary for nursing home workers was $46,900, and the average salary for workers in assisted living facilities was $40,700.
What it didn’t find: The median pay for nurses in private practice was $57,600, and average pay for private practice nurses was $49,800.
What’s next: The ASHPI will publish its latest nursing salary report on Sept. 15.
As of Monday, ASHPi had received more than 1.2 million public comments on the proposal.
The agency plans to present the data in its annual report on Aug. 31.
A similar proposal to increase the pay of nurses was introduced in the House of Representatives in March.
A separate proposal to raise the pay for hospital nurses by an average of $50,000 a year is pending in the Senate.

The proposed increases for nursing and assisted living workers would take effect Jan. 1.
The ASHPII said the increase in the median salary would reduce the number of nursing staff by 3.5% a year.
The nursing staff at nursing homes would see a 1.5%, a 1% increase in wages, the agency said.
