Real Madrid has been crowned the champions of Spain, while Barcelona finished third in the UEFA Champions League.
The first day of the final phase of the competition saw Real Madrid’s squad face Barcelona’s squad on Tuesday night.
As a result, there were many changes in the squad as the reigning La Liga champions fielded new players in the first game.
There were players from both sides, but only one was from the Madrid squad.
The player who did not make the squad was midfielder Marcelo and, like Marcelo, he did not feature in the match.
It was a surprise as Marcelo has been one of the most prolific strikers in the league for many years.
In fact, his statistics have seen him score 30 goals in just nine games this season, and he has been the target of many Barcelona players, and even Sergio Ramos.
As well as being an attacking threat, Marcelo can also score goals and make assists.
He was also an important player in the final stages of the La Liga title race in the summer, scoring six goals in the process.
He did not play against Real Madrid on Tuesday, as he had a calf injury in training, but he did play against Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Wednesday and he did score the winning goal in the Europa League tie.
Real Madrid have not won any of their five games in the Champions League this season.
