Informatics degrees are usually in-demand in academia, and the number of candidates for these programs is steadily growing.
The degree program in informatics at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil has seen a boom in recent years, and it has become one of the most sought-after in the country.
According to the data available on the University’s website, informatics degrees have been awarded for more than 500,000 students, and applications have increased by more than 300% in just the last two years.
At the moment, the program is open for a year, but the institute is planning to increase the number to two years to increase its chances of landing students.
The first two years of the new program will consist of a single-year undergraduate course, with a further two years added after that.
In addition to teaching, informaticas main goal is to provide students with a career-development pathway.
To fulfill the goal of making informatics more accessible to students, the institute has created a website for prospective students that provides information about the program, the curriculum and how to apply.
According to the website, the course has been approved for the first two months of the academic year, and in February, the school announced that it would be open for the remaining six months of 2017.
The institute’s website also contains a list of the university’s faculty, with the most prominent position being the head of the faculty in informaticatics.
According the institute’s president, Roberto Pérez, the aim of the institute was to create an environment where students would be able to learn about informatics and to develop their skills.
“The idea is to give students the opportunity to acquire a good foundation to go on to obtain the skills they need to succeed in the profession,” Pézas told CoinDesk.
He added that students will be required to attend two sessions a year to be introduced to informatics.
“If you don’t take advantage of the time you have, then you will fail,” he said.
“We want students to learn how to analyze information and communicate with colleagues and employers, and to be able speak up when things go wrong.”
Pézos’ vision for the institute comes after another popular program, in which students learn how computer programs work.
In the process, students will have to interact with the code, which is used to create the software used by various businesses and individuals.
In an interview with CoinDesk, Péezas stressed that he had no problems in attracting students for the program.
“I want students who want to become computer scientists, so we need to give them the opportunity,” he told CoinSource.
“It’s not a competition, it’s not an academic competition, so it’s an opportunity to be a programmer.”
Pésos said the institute would continue to offer informatics classes in the future, but he did not elaborate on how long this would take.
For its part, the university has decided to open a new program, and will hold an open call to find candidates this coming Wednesday.
According the university, the students in this new program would have the opportunity “to become informatics specialists, while gaining a good professional development.”
The university has already received more than 200 applications for this new programme.
The new institute will launch on February 24.
